Regions in the European Community

How are regional interests accommodated in the European Community? This important collection of essays, written by authorities from several countries, draws on the varied experiences of four member states--France, West Germany, Italy and Ireland--and the four parts of Great Britain to address that very question. The contributors examine and assess the effectiveness of the elaborate networks that have developed to express regional interests in community policy-making, networks that link regional governments, interest groups, national governments, the Commission, the Council of Ministers, and the European parliament. The book also looks at the problems posed by implementing Community Policies through regional institutions.
