I grew up reading all the time. Early, it was The Three Investigators series created by Robert Arthur, then Agatha Christie. In 7th grade, I read Richard Connell's "The Most Dangerous Game" for the first time, my first run-in with true suspense. Someone at camp introduced me to the writing of Robert McCammon around that time. Those are early reading memories.
If range is a test of a writer, I've done okay. I wrote hundreds, if not more than a thousand, pieces of correspondence in my first job, as well as speeches, newsletters, and press releases.
Shortly thereafter, I was a development editor for a textbook company, finishing what writing my authors couldn't or wouldn't. It was a challenge, and some projects were rewarding, but there was still a sense of something missing.
For four years I taught English, English as a Second Language, and a course called Theory of Knowledge in an international school. I got to share in students' love of reading, and introduce them to some favorites.
Now I write full-time: copy, social media posts, blog posts, illustrated books, and chapter books. To date, we completed eleven illustrated books (http://www.mollyandthemagicsuitcase.com) and one chapter book. The books are stories, but also introduce young readers to cultures around the world.
My wife Amy does the illustrations for our books and our kids Molly and Michael (also our two main characters) provide inspiration and smiles.
